Printmaking- Lino
The past few sessions I  have been working on Lino in Printmaking. Lino is a clay sheet on which line drawings are engraved with a Lino cut tool using a special type of blade. The blades used, are circular and help to carve the clay from the sheet.

The subject of my works are a taxi. I decided to create lino prints of a taxi as it reminded me of my favourite city in the world, Kolkata. In Kolkata, there's an abundance of of yellow taxis, which act as a symbolism of life in the city. The yellow colour symbolises a harmony with the society and the vibrant culture that forms within the people.

I decided to create many colour variations, as Kolkata is a city of joy. By using different bright colours on black paper, I establish a sense of joy and beauty through the various vibrant colour schemes.

For these works, I used acrylic paints. As, I begin to further refine my Lino print, I will begin to use printing ink, which is made for the purpose of Link Printing.

I have-

  1. Undertaken new challenges.   Learnt the process of carving on a Lino and how to dilute the paint to its right form in order to achieve the perfect print.
  2. Shown perseverance and commitment in their activities– I have decided to continue my lino carving, and begin a portrait with Lino.
  3. Developed new skills. - I have developed new skills in carving the Lino and also learnt how to produce and create a print using the lino print.
